LEAF SPRING
Leaf spring is one of the most widely used elastic elements in automobile suspension. It is an approximately equal-strength elastic beam composed of several alloy spring sheets of equal width but unequal length (thickness can be equal or unequal).
When the leaf spring is installed in automobile suspension, the vertical load is positive, and each spring sheet is deformed, There is a tendency to arch upward. At this time, the axle and frame are close to each other. When the axle and frame are far away from each other, the positive vertical load and deformation of the leaf spring will gradually decrease, sometimes even reverse. To improve the stress condition of the main roll ear, the end of the second piece is often bent into a roll ear and wrapped outside the main roll ear.
To make it possible for each piece to slide relatively during elastic deformation, The two ends of the leaf spring in some suspensions are not made into rolling ears, but other support connection methods are adopted, such as a rubber support pad.
